Local resident and soon to “middle schooler” Vivian Coers was featured Tuesday night at the Brownwood Art Center.
Coers exhibited 33 pieces which she said took approximately 2-3 years to complete. Pieces ranged from fun drawings of siblings to animated human figures and sculptures.
Her favorite medium charcoal was used by Coers to create the majority of the exhibit. Coers stated, “I like to use charcoal because it is more forgiving.”
Many of the pieces on display were available for sale at very reasonable prices and most were purchased by the end of the exhibit. Coers was able to donate $80 from the proceeds of these sales to the Central Texas Pregnancy Care Center in Brownwood.Coers is currently homeschooled, and has time to doodle, paint, sculpt and explore her creativity. This fall, she will be taking on public school and looks forward to art classes offered by Brownwood ISD. Her work is influenced by artists such as Van Gogh and Tim Burton.
