2012scholarsregistration

Howard Payne University’s Young Scholars and Summer Scholars day camps, for students entering first-sixth grades, began Monday at the university’s Academy of Freedom campus. In keeping with the theme, Star-Spangled Students, campers were greeted by “colonial patriots.”

It’s not too late to register children for the camp, according to organizers. Deadline for registration has been extended until Tuesday, July 17. For more information, call (325) 649-8500 or visit HPU’s homepage at www.hputx.ed.

Young Scholars is designed for children entering first through third grades. The campers will receive instruction in music, history, reading and physical education. In the Summer Scholars program, students entering fourth through sixth grades will study robotics, computer graphics, reading, history and physical education.  In consideration of this year’s theme, both groups will study the presidential election and the Electoral College.
