A Lake Brownwood man has surprised emergency crews following a one vehicle accident in which a truck left the roadway and crashed through a utility pole and a fence before coming to rest about 75 yards off the highway.
The driver was out of the truck and walking around with only a few minor cuts and scrapes. The accident occurred shortly after 1pm on highway 183 north about 8 miles north of Early and about 2 miles past the airport.
Rescue crews from both Brownwood and Early, including Guardian EMS along with a Department of Public Safety trooper, Early police, and Brown County Sheriff deputies all responded to the scene, each expressing the same amount of wonder at how the man had walked away.
The DPS is investigating the crash, the driver stated that he wasn’t sure what happened but was glad that his airbag worked properly. Authorities have not released his identity yet.
Crews with Comanche Electric Co-op were on scene as well working to repair the downed power line. It took crews approximately one hour to restore power to their affected customers.
