Woodland Heights Elementary held its annual second-grade “Math Wizard” contest on Tuesday, May 28th. The top five students from each second grade classroom competed to be named the “2nd Grade Math Wizard.”
The event took place in the Woodland Heights cafeteria and the second grade teachers led the competition. During each round, two students face off against each other to be the first to answer an addition or subtraction problem displayed on a flash card. The student that answers the problem first advances until the round is over. After many rounds of the double elimination competition, Campbell Gilmore was named “2nd Grade Math Wizard.”
The top five finishers from the contest were: Aishwarya Nigalye, Campbell Gilmore, Andrew Boren, Luke Gray, and Daniel McIver.
