Students at Woodland Heights Elementary jumped all over heart disease and stroke by participating in Jump Rope For Heart on February 26, 27, & 28th. The students raised more than $10,000.00 for the American Heart Association.
“I’m so pleased with the success of this year’s event,” said Coach Morelock, Jump Rope For Heart coordinator. “We all had a lot of fun, and the kids enjoyed learning about the importance of physical activity and how they can play a role in saving lives. The students were also motivated to jump for our very own ‘Heart Hero’, Mrs. Martha Asebedo. We dedicated our program to her as she undergoes a lifestyle change to help make her heart healthier.” Mrs. Asebedo is a first grade teacher at Woodland Heights Elementary.“We had stations this year that not only included jumping skills, but also the students were given a chance to listen to their own heartbeat, added Morelock. “We cannot possibly have such a successful event without the help of our school nurses and wonderful volunteers.”
