A 22-year-old woman is recovering at a Fort Worth hospital after being struck by a car on Hwy 183 approximately a mile north of May, according to Department of Public Safety officials.
The woman was walking home just after midnight on Wednesday morning and was struck as she was text messaging, DPS officials report. According to the trooper, no alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident.
Emergency responders stated that the woman had lacerations to her head and hips at the time of the accident. DPS officials state that the woman was very lucky, having mostly bruises and “road rash” but that most of her injuries were to her face. She was transported by AirEvac helicopter to the Fort Worth hospital where she underwent plastic surgery on Thursday according to officials.
She is reported to be doing much better and will possibly be released this weekend, according to DPS officials.
