FergusonWinifredWinnifred “Shorty” Loraine Ferguson, age 81, of Brownwood passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at her home.  Funeral services will take place at 10:00am Saturday January 29, 2011 in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.  The family invites friends to stop by the Ferguson home, at 2601 Durham in Brownwood, to visit.

Winnifred “Shorty” Loraine Ferguson was born February 18, 1928 in Hermeleigh, TX, to David and Bernice Winburne.  She married Pete Ferguson on September 26, 1946 in Brownwood.  Winnifred was a lifelong resident of the Brownwood area.  She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary where she was in charge of the local district.  Winnifred and Pete enjoyed traveling around the U.S. in their motor home.  She was also an avid bingo player.  Winnifred owned her own upholstery business in Brownwood for many years.  Winnifred was an extremely strong individual.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  Her children and grandchildren held a very special place in her heart.

Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Gary Ferguson.

Survivors include her husband Pete Ferguson, two sons; David Ferguson and Roy Ferguson, her daughter; Wyvonne Ballard and husband Harold, all of Brownwood, two brothers; Joe Winburne and wife Mary of Indiana and Jack Winburne and wife Joanne of California, one sister; Mary June Boykin of Brownwood, grandchildren; Heather Norway and husband Tim of Brownwood, Shae Hatfield and wife Chareese of Austin, Colt Ferguson of Brownfield, Ashley Deeds and husband Bobby of Mullin, Breawna Ballard of Brownwood, Brody Ballard of Austin, Paige Ferguson of Round Rock, and Logan Ferguson of May, a step grandchild; Isreal “Sam” McCrary and wife Leslie of San Antonio, great-grandchildren; Adam, Callie, Jordan, Preston and Trinity Norway, Presley Dareing, Joshua Hatfield, Brendan Sampson, Jensyn Ledlow, and Ethan and Evan Deeds.
