Winnie Lynnette More Bragg, good and faithful servant of the Lord for 93 years went to her heavenly home Thursday June 3, 2010. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00am Monday June 7, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Brownwood. Burial will take place in Cross Plains Cemetery at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 6, 2010 from 4:00pm until 6:00pm, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Lynnette was born in Cross Plains, and grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma, graduating from Seminole High School in 1934. Upon graduation she returned to Cross Plains, where she met Loften Bragg. They were married at First Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas, in May 1935.
Lynnette and Loften lived in various West Texas towns during Loften’s thirty year career with Shell Pipeline. They were active members of Baptist churches in these towns, where Lynnette took an active role in church life. She served as a Sunday school teacher for many years, as an active member and officer in the Woman’s Missionary Union, and in places of service as the wife of a deacon.
During the 1960’s through the early 1980’s, Lynnette was the owner and proprietor of a ladies’ ready-to-wear establishment in Kermit, Texas. She was active in the business community, and as a member of the Chamber of Commerce took part in activities promoted by the Chamber to enhance the business atmosphere and community at large. Upon retirement in 1982, Lynnette and Loften moved to Brownwood where they were active members of First Baptist Church. Through their lives, they were united in their commitment to helping and serving others.
Lynnette is survived by three daughters: Kaye Booher and husband, Jim, of DeSoto; Judy Evans and husband, Larry, of Zephyr, and Dinah Stephenson and husband, Danny, of Abilene; eleven grandchildren: Rick Ivey and wife, Chris, of Ovilla, Don Ivey and wife, Fern, of Moore, Oklahoma; Rusty Booher and wife, Kim, of Joshua; Kellie Collier and husband, Tim, of Jackson, Michigan; Steve Booher and wife, Nancy, of Celina; Andy Booher and wife, Jennifer, of Kennedale; Curtis Evans and wife, Ginger, of Carrollton; Laura Cooper and husband, Lance, of Austin; Jennifer Rasco of Zephyr; Brandon McGuire and wife, Linda, of Potosi; Amanda Willis and husband, Van, of Irving. She is also survived by twenty-five great-grandchildren; Ryan, Robert, and Ross Ivey; Jacob and Nathan Ivey; Tegan Needham and Evan Booher; Craig and Cayce Collier; Leland, Misty, and Morgan Booher; Paxtynn and Riley Booher; Blake and Niki Trammell; Hannah Evans; Erin Cooper; Cole Rasco; Kylie and Kaitlyn McGuire; Greg, Alexis, Amber, and Bailey Willis; great-great-granddaughter, Scarlet Needham; niece, Mona Tappan; nephew, Doyle Eager; and sister-in-law, Alice Bragg.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jessie and Annie Moore; stepmother Daisy Moore; and one sister, Zudora Williams.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to: First Baptist Church of Brownwood, and Choices/Monarch House, 1610 Orange St. Abilene, TX 79601.
