The Howard Payne University men’s soccer program announced the hiring of the University of the Ozarks alumni Wilson Jones as assistant men’s soccer coach.
Wilson Jones who began his duties as assistant coach with the Howard Payne men’s soccer program on August 1st, is a 2009 graduate of American Southwest Conference power the University of the Ozarks. There Wilson helped lead them to three ASC tournament appearances and an ASC East Division Championship in 2007.
“Wilson is a great addition, his knowledge of the conference and the game will benefit the program,” said HPU head coach Kevin Wright. “He is an excellent fit with HPU and we are glad to have him here.”
Wilson was an Academic All-Conference award winner while playing the midfield for Ozarks. Since graduating Cum Laude from Ozarks with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in Health, he has been working on a Masters in Exercise Physiology at the University of Texas at Austin.
Wilson has also worked several soccer camps and served as a counselor and point director at Camp Olympia. He completed his National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Advanced Regional Diploma for coaching this summer.
