A memorial service, celebrating the life of Willis Edward Carey, age 87, of Lake Brownwood, Texas will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early with Donny Pinkston officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mr. Carey passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in Brownwood, Texas.
Willis Edward Carey was born on January 22, 1927 in Callahan County, Texas near Cross Plains to George Hill and Mary Bishop Carey. He served in the United States Army during WW II. Willis and Tomolene LaFarlette were married January 30, 1949 in Brownwood. Willis retired from the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation in 1992, he was a HAM radio operator and a member of The Early Church in Early, Texas.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Tomolene Carey of Lake Brownwood; one son Robert Glenn Carey and wife Michelle of Corpus Christi, Texas; three nephews Randall Carey, Michael Carey and Danny Carey. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Earvine Carey and one sister, Dottie Dean Butler. He was blessed with a large family of first cousins.
