William Leonard “Bill” Means of Brookesmith passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early. Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of arrangements.
Bill was born Dec. 3, 1941, to William Woodrow “Buck” Means and Frances “Allene” Walters Means. He graduated from Brookesmith High School and was drafted into the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired from GTE after many years as an Administrative Supervisor. Bill spent his retirement years taking care of his beloved cows and farming on land that has been in the Means family for over 100 years.
Bill married Cynthia Herrington on August 21, 1981 in Brownwood, Texas.Bill is survived by his wife of almost 32 years; children, Bruce Means and wife Tammy, Steven Means, Julie Swenson and husband Brad, Leslie Means, Len Means and wife Dawn; grandchildren, Karissa Means, Katy Means, and Luke Swenson; sisters, Jerrie Sherrod, Mary Edgar and husband Duke; mother-in-law, Betty Roberts.
Bill was proceeded in death by his parents; father-in-law, H.L. Roberts and brother-in-law, Joe Sherrod of Llano, Texas.
