William Henry “Pinky” Arledge moved into his eternal home on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the age of 77. Born October 10, 1938, in Knox City, Texas, to Henry and Ruby Carlisle Arledge. Pinky lived most of his life in Baylor County. Pinky graduated from Seymour High School in 1957 and attended Texas Tech University, where he served on the Junior and Senior Livestock Judging Team and as President of the Block and Bridle Club.
Pinky farmed and ranched his entire career, while also serving the Seymour community. He was a Trustee for the Seymour School Board from 1982 to 1988, serving as President for two years. He was a regular at the Seymour County Club golf course, winning the Seymour Golf and Country Club Championship nine times.
In 1961, Pinky married Perry Thompson. Their 27-year marriage brought them two daughters, Allyson and Ashley. Allyson and husband James McBride of Dallas survive him, as do Ashley and son Jack of San Marcos. Jack was the light of his Papa Pinky’s life, as they shared many special moments together.Pinky’s retirement years were spent in Brownwood, where he had many special friends at the Brownwood Senior Citizen Center.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Brownwood Senior Citizen Center, in care of the City of Brownwood, P.O. Box 1389, Brownwood, Texas 76804.
Additionally, the family wishes to thank Dr. Lisa Fowler for her long term care of Pinky, as well as the Abilene Regional Medical Center’s ICU unit, who lovingly cared for Pinky in his final stages.
A Memorial Service will be held in Brownwood on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM, at the First United Methodist Church.
Family Visitation will be held at Seymour Memorial Funeral Home in Seymour, Texas from 6-8pm Saturday, May 14, 2016. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Seymour First United Methodist Church at 2pm. Burial will follow in Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
