William “Billy” Robert Bowden, 79 of May went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4, 2019.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, November 30, 2019 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Billy was born May 25, 1940 to Chester and Maxine Bowden in Big Spring, TX. He spent his childhood in Big Spring but graduated high school in Plain Dealing Louisiana. Billy married his beloved Dianne Steed in Big Spring Texas, a union that lasted over 60 years and blessed them with 9 children. Billy went to Howard Payne University and graduated with an engineering degree specific to his duties with 3M. He retired from 3M after 27 years of service. He served as Deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church since 1986. Billy had many hobbies but the two he loved the most was his paintings and creating stain glass art. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Billy is survived by his wife, Dianne Bowden of May; Children, Sam Bowden of Brownwood, Scott Bowden of Houston, Twillia Hoskinson of May, Stephanie Faulkner of Marble Falls, Angela Howle of Austin, Wesley Bowden of Hobbs, NM, Misty Lou Lindsey of Abilene, Tim O’Conner of Itasca and Renee Flores of Huntsville; brother, Dean Bowden of May; sisters, Brenda Switzer of Cross Plains and Barbara Clay of Rising Star; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Maxine Bowden.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 201 FM 2273, May, TX 76857 in his name.
