William “Bill” Alexander Turner, age 86, of Brownwood passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Services for Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2015 at St. John’s Church with Father Michael Mobley officiating, interment will follow at Jordan Springs Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home.
Bill was born on September 30, 1928 in Waco, Texas to Claude and Hattie (Konetzke) Turner. He married Mary Jo Mitchell of Waco, Texas on May 15, 1948, celebrating their 66th anniversary this year.
Bill was drafted into the United States Army in 1954 and served in the Korean War. He worked as an insurance adjuster over 30 years before retirement. He kept busy after retirement volunteering for Meals on Wheels, enjoying his hobbies: ranching, reading, and gardening. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #279 and Shiners’. Bill was an active member at Good Shepherd and St. John’s Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Turner; parents; and a sister, Claudie Seipel.
Bill is survived by three children, Maryanne Turner Fletcher and husband Wesley of Brownwood, Jane Teresa Turner of Santa Fe, N.M., and Paul Andrew Turner of San Antonio; grandson, Jeremiah Willson, Jacob Bunn and wife Christy of San Antonio; great-grandson, August Alexander Bunn of San Antonio; sister, Clydie Ditterline of Warner Robbins, GA.; nephews, Patrick Mitchell and wife Nancy, Mike Mitchell, Timothy Mitchell and wife Ann; nieces, Judy Reynolds, Carol Garland, and Nancy St. John. He is also survived by a host of other family members and friends.
