Graveside funeral services for Wiley H. Rogers, age 89, of Early, formerly of Lubbock, will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2009 in the Cedar Point Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Rogers died Friday, September 4, 2009 in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Wiley was born on June 10, 1920 in Hagerman, New Mexico to Samuel and Mary (Manning) Rogers. The family later moved to Bronte. He served his country in World War II in the US Navy aboard the USS Pelias. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
He married Corine Hodges in 1949. They lived in Lubbock for over fifty years where they owned Wiley’s Sheet & Metal. They moved to Early in 2005. He was a longtime member of the church of Christ.
Wiley is survived by his wife of sixty two years, Corine, of Early, two sisters, Vertice Bankhead and Naoma Bankhead, both of Odessa, and several nieces and nephews.
