Brownwood News – The annual Fourth of July Fireworks show at Wild Duck Marina held on Saturday, July 7th, lit up the night sky a little brighter than intended after a spark from the barge ignited a fire on McCartney Island.
The fireworks show began around 9:30 at the marina following the Boat Parade. Eyewitnesses began reporting the large fire on social media.
The blaze was quickly controlled by the Brownwood Lake Dam Volunteer Fire Department. The fireworks show resumed once the fire had back burned and was contained. No injuries have been reported. Any property damage is unclear at this time.
