Weldon Gene Mahan, Sr., at age 89 of Brownwood, TX, died peacefully at Senior Care facility on Wednesday morning, October 30 at 8:00 am, after battling with multiple health issues. Weldon was born on October 18, 1930 in Mullin, Texas where he proudly grew up in Mills County on the family ranch. He was quite the athlete at Mullin High School. He was born to loving parents Rex and Pauline Mahan, who ultimately lived on the Mahan Ranch of Brownwood, Texas. Weldon’s brothers are Rex Mahan, JR and Max Mahan (deceased).

Weldon traveled in various diverse business circles and had careers throughout his life as a successful rancher, realtor, and tractor/farm implement dealer for Massey Ferguson and Ford. Weldon was quite the entrepreneur and as an international businessman he traded Ford tractors from England to Ireland, Canada, Mexico and the USA.

He loved land and saw the great potential in its perpetual value and profited from that intuitive insight with several ranches over the years.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Phyllis Mahan, three fine children from his previous marriage to Virginia Jenkins:  Weldon Gene Mahan, JR (married to Jennifer Mahan), Hilton Mahan (deceased) and Celia Lightfoot. He was very proud of his stepdaughters, Kim Greene and Laurie Day whose husbands are Nate Greene and Jeff Day.

He took great pride in all his grandchildren: Weldon John Mahan, Dylan Thomas Lightfoot, Jeffery Day, Nathaniel Greene, Abby Cadenhead and husband Justin, and Aubrey Greene.

Weldon was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for many years and also led the singing in his Sunday school class.

The immediate family will have a graveside memorial service later this month to celebrate his life.
