A low pressure system parked over the central Texas area for the last few days bringing steady rain and cooler temperatures.
The rain kicked in late Thursday night effecting some September 11th events on Friday morning and carrying over to the Friday night high school football games.
Although the area was under a flash flood watch for most of the weekend, that rain remained steady enough to not cause any major problems. Wunderground.com is showing 1.78 inches of rain had fallen at the airport, but local residents have reported a range from 2.5-3 inches in Brownwood with totals over 4 inches in the Lake Brownwood area.
According to the Brown County Water Improvement District’s website, the lake is on the rise slightly due to the rain, but still showing over 6 feet below spillway level. It may take several days for all of the rainfall runoff to find its way into the lake.
Temperatures are also effected with a high today expected to only be in the lower 70’s with 30% chance of rain today and tonight.
The high on Tuesday is forcast to be in the low to mid 80’s.
