Brownwood Fire Department responded to a house fire Wednesday night in the 800 block of Gifford Street.
The fire began around 8:30 p.m. and when firefighters arrived, flames were visible from the back of the single family home. All the occupants were able to get safely out of the home according to fire officials.
Early Volunteer Fire Department was called to help with an additional truck and firemen. Allegiance EMS were also called to the scene of the fire.
According to Fire Marshal Buddy Preston, an electrical short was the cause of the fire. Although the home was not a total loss, it sustained heavy smoke damage.
