Brookesmith ISD has been selected as the winner of a paint grant through Weakley-Watson True Value Hardware’s partnership with the True Value Foundation’s “Painting a Brighter Future” program.  A True Value Foundation paint grant helps renew an atmosphere that sets a positive tone for educators to teach and children to learn.

Partnering with True Value Foundation, Weakley-Watson Hardware notified area schools of the grant program last fall and encouraged them to apply.  Pictured above, Dr. Jay Smith, Superintendent of Brookesmith ISD, and Ralph Barksdale, Director of Maintenance are receiving the paint donation from Kathy Kelly and Mike Blagg of Weakley-Watson True Value.  The paint will be used to re-paint hallways and classrooms.

“Painting a Brighter Future” is the signature program of the True Value Foundation, a philanthropic organization of True Value retailers nationwide.  An extensive judging process evaluated several aspects of the school, including student population, involvement with the surrounding community, and the reasoning behind the school’s request.  Using this set of criteria, an advisory committee of True Value Company professionals identified the top applicants as grant winners, each of whom were notified by their local True Value hardware store.

The True Value Foundation was established in 2008 to unite True Value retailers in helping people in their communities build stronger lives through charitable programs.
