Original Press Release From February 1, 2017 – Mike Blagg, president of Weakley-Watson, Inc., announced that the Weakley-Watson True Value Hardware store located at 1414 Austin Avenue in Brownwood will be closing soon. Last day of business is anticipated to be around the end of February.

“Our company’s owners are all reaching retirement age,” Blagg said. “I and my brothers Bill and John Lee represent the fifth generation of the Weakley, Watson, and Blagg families to own and operate the business. Over the past 140 years our company has been in many different businesses and has had locations in ten different Texas cities. We are profoundly grateful for the support of our customers from Brown County and Central and West Texas over the years. And we will always treasure the hundreds of loyal employees who have made our business successful.”

Blagg emphasized that the 140 year history of Weakley-Watson will continue unbroken, just under different ownership, through Weakley-Watson Sporting Goods in Early. Purchased by the David Furry family in 2013, the Sporting Goods store will continue the proud history of Weakley-Watson, from 1876 to the 21st century.
