Wayland Dixon, age 78, of Brownwood went home to his Lord on Saturday January 18, 2020.
Born in Noodle Tx March 14, 1941 to the late J.W. Dixon and Margaret L. Dixon (Heleman) His family moved to Brownwood in 1956. He was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and an active member of the Sunday Morning Good News Men’s Bible Class.
In 1959 he met Nevelyn (Cookie) Graham in Abilene Tx. They were married on April 19, 1960.
Wayland was a salesman/ Manager for 46 years with National Motor Club and Rancher which he learned from his father. After retiring from National Motor Club, he continued on with his passion for cattle and became a local business man.
Wayland is preceded in death by his son, Lee Dixon and his parents.
Wayland is survived by Cookie Dixon, one son James Dixon his wife Jackie of Melbourne Australia; their three children Lauren, Chloe and Brock. His daughter DeeDee Dixon Gibbs her husband Tracy Gibbs of Brownwood; her two children Danielle Houghton and Richard Houghton. Two children of late Lee Dixon; Gary Dixon and Elizabeth Dixon. One Brother Harold Dixon of Brownwood. One sister and brother in law Carolyn and Riley Banta of Brownwood. Along with many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Wayland was known and loved by many people all over the state of Texas. He greeted everyone with a smile and handshake. He always had a story for everything, which was immediately followed up with one of his big belly laughs.
Funeral services for Wayland will be held at 10 AM Thursday, January 23, 2019 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Cedar Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
