A local restaurant owner was arrested on drug related charges after a search and arrest warrant was executed at the Wild Wings Cafe on Tuesday.
According to Brownwood Police officials, officers executed the warrant around 2:30pm Tuesday afternoon when intelligence gathered indicated illegal narcotics were present at the cafe.
Owner and operator Shaun Abbas was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia which indicated use of the drug, according to police. Hydrocodone was also found in Abbas’ possession. Abbas was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 1 Less than 1g and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 3 Less than 28g. At the time of the report, Abbas was being held at the Brown County Jail and bond had not been set.
According to the report, the Brownwood Health Department along with Fire and Health Department officials were called in due to the poor condition of the kitchen when officers served the warrant. After Fire and Health inspections, the cafe was shut down, city officials said.
“Wild Wings Cafe was closed due to health violations that will have to be remedied before it can reopen,” stated Brownwood City Manager Bobby Rountree.
Wild Wings Cafe is located inside the Budget Inn, at 515 E. Commerce in Brownwood, Texas.
Brownwood Assistant Chief James Fuller gave BPD narcotics officers credit for a job well done.
“It was a great effort on the part of our narcotics officers, we make every effort to get illegal narcotics off of our streets,” said Fuller.
