Wanda Faye Sowers Young, age 73, the widow of Dr. Thomas R. Young, passed away early Sunday morning, December 21, 2014 at her home in Richmond, Kentucky.
Mrs. Young was born on March 7, 1941 in Madison County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late William Sanford and Lille Candice Durbin Sowers. She and her late husband had resided in Texas, where she considered herself a rancher and a homemaker.
Survivors include three sisters: Ann Katherine Barnes, Lena Frances Barnes and Nannie B. Lynch House (Billy); three brothers: Reverend Gilbert “Tommy” Sowers (Betty), Ronald Gene Sowers and Donald Lee Sowers as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved dogs: Brindle and Smiley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home chapel with Brother Bill Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Bangs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 11 AM until service time.
