Funeral services for Wanda Nell Dukes, age 78, of Fort Worth, Texas formerly of Brownwood will be held 2:00 Saturday May 20, 2017 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Interment will follow in the Jordan Springs Cemetery in Brown County. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Dukes passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
Wanda, one of thirteen children was born on April 16, 1939 to William Luther and Mary Linnie Egger Russell in Ebony, Texas. She attended school and was raised in the Ebony Community and was married to Carl Goins when she moved to Brownwood. They had five children together David, Donald, Peggy, Danny and Darlene. She worked hard to help to support her family. While in Brownwood she was employed by Brownwood Manufacturing and Swifts. She moved to Fort Worth in the early 1970’s where she married Harold Baldwin and they had two more children Harold and Wanda. In Fort Worth she worked at the Dickeys Plant and retired after twenty years with MHMR working in supervising. After retirement Wanda would enjoy watching wrestling, crocheting and going to flea markets with her son David. Her greatest joy though was spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children David Goins, Donald Goins, Danny Goins, Darlene Chambers, Harold Baldwin, and wife Kim and Wanda Salas and Ricky Dupree; brothers William, James, Bob, Ernest and Jerry Russell; grandchildren Sandra and Samuel Goins, Dale Jr., William, Cinda, Haley, Jeremy, Stephanie and Aaron Chambers, Shelby, Tyler and Megan Baldwin; Antonio Jr, and Andres Salas, Alyssa Hernandez, Bryan Dupree, Peggy Salas, Donnie Bethke and Mary Irwin. Numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family also survive. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Peggy Bethke; a granddaughter Savannah Chambers, several sisters including Ann Wright and Betty Green and by brothers Johnny and Ronnie Russell.
