Funeral services for Walter Brummett, Sr. 65, of Brookesmith, formerly of Austin, will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, January 26, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Hall officiating.
Interment will follow with Military Honors at Cedar Point Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, January 25, at the funeral Home.
Mr. Brummett died on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital in Temple.
Walter Brummett Sr. was born on June 15, 1947, in Academy Texas to William Brummett and Myrtle Ann McCormick Brummett. He served his country in the United States Army and later, had worked as a welder. Walter enjoyed spending time with his family and barbequing but his favorite pastime was fishing. He had lived in Brookesmith since 1992, moving there from Austin.
He leaves behind his children; Amanda Griffin, Amy Brummett, Walter Brummett Jr., Billy Joe Brummett, Coy Brummett, Thomas Brummett, and Frank Brummett, all of Brownwood and 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers, Henry Brummett and Carel Brummett as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Brummett; his mother, Myrtle Brummett, father, William Brummett; one grandson and sister, Emma Mae Busby; brothers, Sonny Brummett, Olin Brummett and John Brummett.
Services for Walter Brummett Sr. are under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations.
