Brownwood native Walker Willey was welcomed Tuesday as the newest officer to the Brownwood Police Department. Willey was sworn in at Tuesday’s Brownwood City Council Meeting and took the Oath of Office and the Law Enforcement Oath of Honor.
Willey is a 1998 graduate of Brownwood High School. He has worked as a police officer with the Robstown Police Department and as a Firefighter/Medic for the Corpus Christi Fire Department. Willey recently moved back to Brownwood with his family to take the job with the police department.
Brownwood Police Chief Mike Corley said that he wants to swear in any future new hires and promotions at city council meetings.
“I want our officers and the public to know that we are servants of the public, and this reaffirms that we do this in the public and everybody sees and the officer sees that we are accountable to the people of this community,” Corley said.
