Waldine Marie Menke Benton passed quietly from this life into the arms of her Lord on November 19, 2019, at the age of 95.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Heartland Funeral Home, 303 Early Blvd. Early, Texas. Interment will be at the Rowena Protestant Cemetery in Rowena, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Rowena Protestant Cemetery Association.
Waldine was born in Da Costa, Texas on June 23, 1924 to Paul William Menke and Alma Anna Wehlmann Menke. She was married to Gerald Eugene Benton in San Saba, Texas on July 12, 1958, and together they raised eight children. Waldine attended school at Paint Rock, Texas, was an Audit Clerk for Montgomery Wards in Brownwood, Texas and was formerly a resident of Santa Anna, San Saba, and Brownwood, Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Santa Anna, Texas until taking up residence with her children. Her life was abundantly blessed with the pleasures of friends and family and she particularly enjoyed spontaneous road trips with her husband Gerald to visit friends and family near and far. She greatly enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and sharing her abundance with others.
Waldine was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Benton, parents; Paul and Alma Menke, sister: Ruby Ann Schwartz, sons; Jerry Benton and Gene Benton, daughters-in-law; Mary Benton, Becky Benton and Shirley Benton, grandchildren; Patricia Benton, Kyler Lee and Jordan Paul Salas, and sister-in-law Bobbie Benton. Waldine is survived by; son, Steve Benton and wife Carla of Jarrell, TX, daughter, Shirley McEwin and husband Clint of Santa Anna, TX, daughter Patsy Salas and husband Roy of Temple, TX, daughter Sabre Abbott and husband Guy of San Angelo, TX, son, Mike Benton and wife Shirley of Ft. Worth, TX, daughter, Judy Adams and husband Dean of New Braunfels, TX, sister, Allene Menke of San Angelo, TX, sister-in-law Wanda Greer of Brownwood, TX, brother-in-law Alfonse Schwartz of San Angelo, TX, 21 grandchildren, their spouses and many great and great-great grandchildren.
