On Friday, Wal-Mart security called the Brownwood Police Department regarding theft of money from cash registers at Wal-Mart by an employee.  Police reports say that Wal-Mart security recently launched an internal investigation that discovered a cashier, 24-year-old Kristen Keith of Brownwood, had been taking cash from the bank bag after totaling out her registers for the day.

According to Brownwood Police reports, Wal-Mart documented at least 5 thefts on video and after daily drawer counts. Wal-Mart security confronted Keith about the thefts and she admitted in writing that she had taken the money.  She also recovered $300 from her purse that she had taken on the current working day.  Police reports say that Keith admitted to taking $2400.  She was arrested and charged with theft.  She was released from jail on $5000 bond.

–A man was arrested late Sunday morning after Brownwood police found some marijuana, syringes, and a small straw according to police reports.  Officers were called to the 1300 block of Avenue I when officers observed two men sitting in a pickup truck outside the residence. Police found the drug related items after searching one of the subjects.  24-year-old Joseph Cleddy Baize was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

–Police were called to Armstrong & McCall Beauty Supplies on Commerce St. regarding a shoplifter.  Police arrived as the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Kimberly Jo Wills, was leaving the store.  She was apprehended and arrested for theft.

–Police arrested 23-year-old Jonathan Lopez on Saturday night in the 2600 block of Vine Street.  He was reported to be very intoxicated and had no place to stay.  He was charged with public intoxication.

–Police arrested two men in the early morning hours of Sunday.  22-year-old Carlos Martinez was arrested for public intoxication and Luis Mendoza Leal was arrested for DWI.
