A graveside funeral service for Wade Thomason, age 78, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 23, 2013 in the Rocky Creek Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 until 6:00.
Wade Worth Thomason went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of Brown County and a member of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ. Wade was born on June 24, 1935 to Worth and Ida Mae Thomason. He married his high-school sweetheart, Editha Joy Wilks, on November 20, 1954. She was the love of his life. As a young man, he worked with his father as a driller in the oilfields of West-Central Texas while also farming and ranching here in Brown County. In later years, Wade worked the farm with his son Royce by his side. He was at home in the seat of a tractor and he loved raising cattle, often checking on them several times each day.
Wade is survived by his wife of 59 years, Editha Thomason; a sister, Barbara Tongate of Early; three children, Donna Willson of Brownwood, Terry Thomason and wife Lisa of Brownwood, Royce Thomason and wife Cindy of Brownwood; five grandchildren, Michael Willson and wife Amber, Glynn Willson and girlfriend Nina, Josh Thomason and wife Patti, Emilee Hill and husband Russell, Melissa Vanderveer and husband Brandon, and Justin Thomason and wife Holly; and four great-grandchildren, Dustin, Grayson, Avery, and Case. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Wade was preceded in death by his father, Worth Thomason and his mother, Ida Mae Thomason.
