Services for Wade Parker, 83, of Brownwood will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, October 22 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Reception will be from 12:30-1:30 with the service following.
Mr. Parker passed on Monday October 20 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 21, 1931 in Unionville, N.C., to Lonnie and Jeanetta Parker. A Graduate of Eastern Carolina University, he was an accountant for 51 years. He is a veteran of the Cold War and served in the US Army as a Pistol Marksman and was an MP for the first Hydrogen Bomb project in Eniwetok Island.
He was the Business manager for the Galveston Daily News for 20+ years and retired in 1981 to become a professional newspaper consultant. He traveled the US in assisting newspapers return to profitability. Wade was an avid farmer/gardener and had led active farming activities through this summer.He is survived by a daughter Carole Parker of Brownwood and two sons Charles Parker of Belton and Chad Parker of Anchorage, AK, two daughter-in-laws, 4 grandchildren, one grand-child and one sister Helen Morgan of Unionville, NC. He is preceded in death by his wife Joy Parker; his parents; one brother and two sisters.
