Voters in Early ISD approved a tax ratification Saturday that will provide the district additional funds for operations this school year.
Out of about 3400 eligible voters, 210 people cast their ballots in the election, according to election officials. Out of those, 166 voted to approve the ratification (79.05%) and 44 voted against (20.95%).
With this approval, part of the district’s interest and sinking tax rate will shift to the maintenance and operations tax rate. The overall tax rate will remain unchanged to the taxpayer.
With the approval of the tax shift, Early ISD will receive an additional $690,000 from the state.
