Volunteers searched across Brown County Sunday looking for any clues to the whereabouts of missing Brownwood woman Michele Reiter.
Two search parties were organized by friends of Reiter, one at 9am and another at 2pm, where volunteers searched across Brown County. Volunteers met at Coggin Park, selected a location to search, and looked for most of the day. Volunteers were instructed to mark maps showing the locations they searched and placed orange tape to mark off any area of possible clues. Maps and information were turned over to the Brownwood police detectives for follow up. More than 60 volunteers total arrived to search; many indicated that they didn’t know Reiter but wanted to help.
“I appreciate you guys coming out; her family appreciates you guys coming out, and we’ve got just one goal – let’s get her home,” said search coordinator Erocia Poindexter to volunteers.
Brownwood Police were on standby to follow up with any possible clues. Although this was not a police organized search, authorities were ready to help.
“I think it is great that we have a lot of caring people who want to help,” said Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller.
Fuller said Sunday that he can’t release any details of the case of the missing woman, but police are continuing their investigation.
Authorities previously said that they have been searching for the missing woman who was last seen on Monday, September 10th and will continue to do so. Reiter’s car was found abandoned on Wednesday, September 12th at the Bert Massey Sports Complex south of Brownwood.
