The 15th year for Brownwood’s local festival, the Feels Like Home Celebration will kick off Friday, but coordinators and volunteers are already hard at work making sure this year’s event is one of the best ever held in the area.
Organizers hosted their traditional volunteer rally Wednesday at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center to officially mark the beginning of Reunion week and give volunteers their assignments and t-shirts. The Depot was decorated with lots of balloons, and those in attendance were treated to free hot dogs courtesy of Allegiance Ambulance.Celebration Volunteer Coordinator Rowonna McNeely was busy signing up last minute volunteers that will fill many necessary roles.
It usually takes between 1200 and 1500 volunteers to put everything together, according to McNeely who explained that volunteers basically build a small city, run it for three days and then tear it down.
During the Feels Like Home Celebration, volunteers help with tasks such as manning barricades, help with parking, running shuttles, help in food court, and countless other tasks during the three day event.
This year’s Feels Like Home Celebration will be held September 18, 19, and 20. The community-wide festival features a variety of events, attractions, music, and food in addition to the main concerts on Saturday night. Visit
