IMG_0032The Girl Scouts of Central Texas celebrated not only the girls who participate in the programs for the year but also the volunteers and troop leaders that help put together events, troop meetings and more with a banquet Thursday night at Austin Avenue Church of Christ.

Kristi Slocum, the Mission Delivery Associate, was the Master of Ceremony and offered support and gratitude for the hours those volunteers and troop leaders serve.

Girl Scouts took part in drawing for door prizes, then a dinner of fried chicken and homemade desserts was served.

Janet Nash, Leader of Troop  4039, was recognized.  She was given a symbolic “survival kit” that had a band-aid (to heal hurt feelings), a match, a rubber band (to remind her to be flexible), paper clip (to help hold things together), candy (to sweeten the deal) and a button (to help remember to sometimes keep your mouth shut), to which the audience gave a laugh.

Service Unit Volunteers were also recognized.  Juanita Arriaga, who helps with translation and director Marcela Cantu were thanked with a gift basket.

Several girl scouts were present which included Troop 4039 which had the highest troop participation at the banquet.  Many of the girls showed off their uniform vests and sashes full of earned patches.

It was an evening of thanks and fellowship enjoyed by all.
