The Howard Payne University volleyball team went 3-1 at the Hendrix College Tournament this weekend picking up wins over Williams Baptist College, Huntingdon College, and host Hendrix College.
The Lady Jackets dropped their only match of the tournament on the opening day to the University of Dallas in five games, 2-3 (25-16, 25-22, 20-25, 13-25, 11-15). Carlee Ammons played solid for HPU with 9 kills and a .318 attack pct. Amber Cantu-Curry has 38 assists.
Howard Payne then turned around and defeated host Hendrix College 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-23). Megan Pick had a great game with 13 kills and a .367 attack pct.
On day two, HPU picked up a win over Williams Baptist College 3-2 (26-24, 19-25, 27-25, 19-25, 15-9). Tamika Heline with 24 kills and 21 digs.
They finished off the tournament with a 3-1 (25-9, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20) win over Huntingdon College. Heline and Pick had 22 and 11 kills respectively. Amber Cantu-Curry dished out 37 assists.
Howard Payne now stands at 7-2 overall and 1-0 in ASC play. They will play at home on Tuesday against McMurry University at 7:00 pm.
