Victory Life Academy’s first-year robotics program is competing in the Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology (BEST) Robotics competition. BEST is a six-week robotics competition for middle and high school students.
The competition is designed to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and encourage students to pursue careers in the fields of technology and engineering. The district competition will be held at TSTC Sweetwater. The competition kicked off September 13, where teams were introduced to this year’s theme of “Operation Blade Runner”. The objective of this competition is to transport wind turbine parts to a site and begin the assembly process. The competition also requires safe extraction of an endangered species to a new, suitable habitat. The judging of the competition will take place Oct. 24-25.
Victory Life competitors will be competing alongside a number of area public, private and home school students. Groups will be judged on the ability of their robot to complete assigned tasks, present an engineering journal showcasing the robotic design process, a marketing presentation and team spirit and cooperation with other teams.
Victory Life Academy students will hold a public demonstration Oct. 20 at 11:40 a.m. The demonstration is open to the public. Anyone in the community interested in robotics is encouraged to attend the competition.
