Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteers have joined forces with Central Texas Opportunities to provide free income tax preparation services to the public at Ranger College in Heartland Mall of Early.

Volunteers are available from 1:00pm to 4:30pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  For years VITA volunteers have provided the free service at Adams Street Community Center, but this year the services are being held at Ranger College, located at Heartland Mall.  Entry to Ranger College is on the back side of Heartland Mall on the north end.

Taxpayers are asked to bring the following items in order to file an accurate return: last year’s Federal return (optional); Proof of identification; Social Security cards for all dependents or individual;  TAX ID number; birth dates of filer and dependents; wage and earning statements; forms W-2, W-2G, 1099-R from all employers; interest and dividend statements from banks, bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit; relevant information about income and expenses; amount paid for day care with providers ID; and the current year’s tax package, (optional).

All volunteers are trained and under guidance of the Internal Revenue Service.
