VVaughnPainterV….is for “Virginia” Vaughan, award winning painter, will present a demonstration on Saturday, September 12, at 1:30PM in the Brownwood Art Center, 215 Fisk Avenue.

Sponsored by the Brownwood Art Association, the demonstration is free of charge and open to the public. V….Vaughan says “I paint because I MUST. It is my response to glorious creation, and whatever has “impressed” me today!”

As a plein air painter she paints on location all across America. “My favorite place has been around the countryside on our old farm in Manor, Texas,” where she lived for 30 years, most of her life. Her husband grew up there, and their children were the fourth generation to live on the farm.

Recently, she completed 365 daily small works…..”one little study in oil for each day of the year, depicting our last year on the farm.” She says farm has sold now, “giving way to urban sprawl,” and “development is coming soon…we have moved to other pastures.” The paintings were featured at various museums and venues and are now available in a book, “Last Year on the Farm, A Story of Change.” V….Vaughan spent many years as a graphic designer/art director/illustrator, working in advertising and winning Addy Awards. Her clients included Samsung, The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and Harcourt Publishing.

V….Vaughan Arts grew through RockSports Inc. who still features V….Vaughan’s colorful designs in national catalogs and websites. V….Vaughan has studied with the best: Ray Vinella, Kevin Macpherson, Ann Templeton, Kathryn Stats and Carolyn Anderson. From 1989 – 2009 V….Vaughan was the art instructor at Round Rock Christian Academy, where her students won numerous awards.
