Funeral services for Margarette Virginia Day, age 92, of Brownwood, will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Brownwood. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Day passed from this life on Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Virginia was born on November 14, 1922 in Greensboro, North Carolina to William Lindon and Maggie Virginia (King) Oakley. She graduated from Elon College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education. Virginia married Edward “Beezer” Day on September 10, 1945.
Virginia worked in the Special Education Department of the Brownwood Independent School District for a number of years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended the Priscilla Sunday School Class. Virginia enjoyed traveling with her husband and sister.
Virginia is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Edward “Beezer” Day of Brownwood, two daughters, Robin Nance and husband Jim, Cheryl Kirby and husband Wayne Parish, and a son, Alan Day and wife Janene; nine grandchildren, Stacey McKee, Christian Nance, Scott Kirby, Lance Kirby, Amber Gibbs, Matt Kirby, Autumn Miller, Justin Kirby, and Brendan Day and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Thompson, and a brother, Bill Oakley.
