For three straight seasons the Victory Life Academy Warriors have qualified for the TAPPS Division 2 state six man football playoffs. Each of the past two campaigns has ended with first round defeats.
The Warriors hope to gain their first ever playoff victory Friday evening, November 12th, at Warrior Stadium. VLA will welcome the San Antonio Castle Hills Eagles.
Victory Life Academy is coming off of a bye week. The Warriors ended their season with a 63 to 18 win over Granbury Happy Hill. The Warriors secured the district championship with this win.
VLA (8-2) is lead by spread back Tyler McDaniel. Through nine games this season McDaniel has accounted for over 4000 yards of total offense. He ended the regular season completing 121 of 184 passes for 2082 yards and 33 touchdowns. He also rushed for 2055 yards on 179 carries and 36 touchdowns. Victory Life Academy leading receiver this season was Weston Norway. Norway caught 49 passes for 714 yards and 4 touchdowns. Logan Polaski added 15 receptions for 461 yards. He reached the end zone 10 times this season including a 34 yard run.
On defense the Warriors were led by Garrett Hagood. For the season he recorded 107 tackles of which were for losses. Cullen Ruth added 70 tackles and forced 3 fumbles. McDaniel chipped in on defense as well contributing 47 tackles along with 9 interceptions.
Victory Life Academy averages 59 points per game while allowing 36 on average. VLA has a +13 turnover ratio for the regular season.
With a victory this Friday the Warriors would play the winner of the Alvin Living Stones vs. Seguin Lifegate/Fredricksburg Heritage first round playoff game.
