The stage is set. The props are in place. The actors are onstage. All that is left is for the curtain to rise. So it also is with the Orwellian Big Brother government’s take-over as portrayed by playwright Scot Lahaie in his hit play, BIGBROTHER 2014, which Victory Life Academy will be performing during their dinner theatre on May 11th at 7:00pm. The performance will be held at Victory Life Academy at 901 C. C. Woodson Road in Brownwood.
Lahaie states in a recent email to Victory Life Academy’s theatre arts director that he used George Orwell’s famous post-World War II futuristic novel, 1984 as a springboard to craft this original work. (Check out the trailer of this play on You Tube!) As the playwright warns, “Orwell got it right. He just missed the date.”
The preview states that the show is suspenseful and will keep the audience on the edge of their seats, while offering them the knowledge of how important freedom is and not to take it for granted.
“Filled with suspense and global intrigue, this media driven “James Bond” camp style production will keep theatergoers in stitches as well as on the edge of their seats. People will walk away understanding the importance of not taking our freedoms that our founding fathers gave us for granted. They will walk away convinced of their civic responsibility to take part in the decision-making processes of our American system of Constitutional government.”
