DrHirschBrownwood Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce that Victor Hirsch, MD Hematology/Oncology of the BRMC Walker Cancer Center has been selected and will be inducted in to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society at Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota.  Dr. Hirsch was nominated and selected based on high academic achievements and accomplishments in leadership, professionalism, research, teaching and service. The ceremony of induction will take place on May 7.

Victor Hirsch, MD joined the Medical Staff at BRMC in February 2014. Dr. Hirsch is Board Certified Medical Oncology, Board Certified Hospice and Palliative Care and Board Certified in Internal Medicine. He is also certified by American Academy of Pain Management and a Fellow, American College of Physicians.  Chip Camp, CEO stated, “We are pleased to have Dr. Hirsch as a member of our oncology care team. AOA currently has 125 chapters in medical schools in the United States and Lebanon. More than fifty Nobel Prize winners in Physiology or Medicine, and in Chemistry, have been A?A members. More than thirty of those were elected to A?A prior to winning the Nobel Prize.

Each year, A?A grants more than $575,000 to medical students and faculty for awards, projects, and prizes that recognize outstanding commitment and dedication to caring for others and providing high quality health care.

Alpha Omega Alpha is the only national honor medical society in the world. It is organized to promote scholarship and research n medical schools and to encourage a high standard of character among medical students and graduates. Scholastic excellence is not the only criteria for election, integrity, capacity for leadership, compassion and fairness in dealing with one’s colleagues are considered to be of equal significance.
