Visitation for Vi Jones, age 90, of Brownwood, will be held on Saturday, April 16, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Heartland Funeral Home. Private interment will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Jones passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 in Brownwood.
Heartland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Annie Viola Jones was born on May 20, 1925 in Sonora to Cal and Annie (Cargle) Ory. She graduated from Lampasas High School in 1944. Vi married L.E. “Jiggs” Jones on September 5, 1945. They shared sixty-two years together before his passing on September 5, 2007. Vi was a longtime member of the Austin Avenue church of Christ. She served as a teacher in the Children’s Ministry for 50 years. She also volunteered at Cherokee Home for Children for many years cooking meals for the house parents and children. Cherokee dedicated a pavilion in honor of Jiggs and Vi for their service to the home.Outside of church and volunteer activities, Vi was busy keeping her grandchildren while their parents were working.
Vi is survived by her daughter, Betty Jones and her husband Jerry of Brownwood; three grandchildren, David Jones and wife Larissa of Ballinger, Kurt Jones and wife Carrie Beth of Burnet and Andrea Noe and husband Matt of Highland Village; an honorary grandson, Jason Chamberlain and wife Debra of Huffman; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan Jones, Trenton Jones, Chance Jones, Mady Jones, Grant Jones, Hayden Noe and Carson Noe.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and husband L. E. Jones.
