Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3278 and the Ladies’ & Men’s Auxiliary will observe VFW Day, celebrating the 113th birthday of the VFW as a national organization, by posting the National Colors 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 29th.
The observance will be held at the VFW Post at 2300 Stephen F. Austin. The public is invited to attend the raising of the National Colors.
Following the ceremony the Post will recognize their volunteers that have supported the Post’s functions during the year by having a birthday cookout.
Veterans of Foreign War numbers 1.4 million members in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and many foreign countries. According to the VFW’s national website, the organization is a nonprofit organization that serves their community.

A national volunteer service organization, the Ladies (&Men’s) Auxiliary of the VFW was founded in 1914 and is the backbone of many local VFW volunteer efforts.
