VFW Post 3278 recently commemorated the World War II Invasion of Normandy on June 12th and made a donation to the JROTC Cadet Command and Staff School.

JROTC Camp Commander Colonel Dunlap (above left) was presented a $500 check during the observance by Junior Commander Todd Powell.  Colonel Dunlap is also the Professor of military science at Abilene High School.  The funds are given to help support the awards program, the Pass in Review ceremony, at the JROTC Cadet Command and Staff School (CCSS) held at Howard Payne University each summer.    This year’s school wrapped up on June 14th.

At the camp, hundreds of JROTC members are provided an executive level Summer Leadership School (SLS) for Air Force JROTC programs across the state of Texas, with the mission of developing the attending cadets into leaders capable of running their respective corps or programs.  This is done through an extensive, week-long program with a focus in academics, personal development, and team building.  Pictured below Junior Commander Powell reads the observance narrative.  Photos contributed.
