VFW Post 3278 and the Ladies Auxiliary made donations to the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) Leadership Camp held at Howard Payne University last week.
The VFW Post along with its auxiliaries presented checks totaling $2300 to JROTC leaders Steven Shinkle and Christopher Carney of the Abilene ISD and San Angelo ISD. The donation was made possible through fundraising efforts of VFW Post members who held a fish fry in May to benefit the JROTC camp. This donation will help to keep costs down for cadets who attend the camp and helps to pay for trophies awarded during the camp.According to VFW officials, this year’s camp hosted cadets from 40 different high schools throughout the state.
