WWII Veterans honored VFW District 8 with their attendance at the District meeting in Eastland. Each was award the World War II Commemorative Medal by VFW State Commander Silvia Sanchez.
Pictured above are, right to left, Mr. Dewey Struck, who served with the Army Air Forces during WWII in the Southwest Pacific; Mr. Ray Vaughn, who served in the US Navy in the Southwest Pacific at the Battle of the Philippines Sea; Mr. Don L. Polett, who served with the US Marines at Camp Pendleton; VFW State Commander Silvia Sanchez; Ladies State Auxiliary President Melanie McConaghy; District 8 Ladies Auxiliary Senior Vice President Jane Masters and behind is District 8 Commander Keith King.Each one of the Veterans awarded the World War II Commemorative Victory Medal is also a VFW member.
In other happenings at the VFW District 8 Convention, James Masters, LTC, USA, Ret was elected as the District 8 Commander and Olivia J. Masters, MAJ USAR, Ret was elected the District 8 Ladies Auxiliary President.
