VFW Post 3278 honored area citizens in an award ceremony on Thursday, April 18th recognizing their service to the community.
During their annual Citizen’s Award Banquet, the VFW honors emergency responders and law enforcement officers for their service to the community, each recipient is chosen by their supervisors for going above and beyond to serve the community while they performed their job requirements.
The following were honored:

Brownwood Police Department: Aaron Taylor
Brownwood Fire Department: Matt Campbell (pictured above with King, Brownwood Fire Chief Del Albright, and Masters).

Guardian EMS: Darla Biggerstaff
Heart of Texas Veteran’s Clinic: Amy D. Brantner

Winners of the VFW’s Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen essay contests were also recognized. Each year the VFW holds a contest for area students on local, district, state and national levels. Students are honored with a plaque and cash prizes.
