Verita Rice, age 72, of Brownwood passed away Monday November 8, 2010 in Brownwood. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00am Thursday, November 11, 2010. Burial will follow in Trickham Cemetery.
Verita was born on October 29, 1938 in Ft. Worth, TX, to B.A. and Vera Butler. Verita was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She married Garner Rice on March 18, 1959 in Comanche, TX.
Verita enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed many activities with Garner. They did some traveling and also attend sporting events of their grandchildren; basketball and football were among her favorites. She and Garner lived in Lingleville, TX for 30 years before moving to Brownwood after retirement.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Mrs. Rice’s name.
Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her parents B.A. and Vera Butler.
Mrs. Rice is survived by her husband of 51 years, Garner Rice, her children; Benny Rice and wife Denean, Dana Stasey, and Marsha Rice, her grandchildren; Tanner Stasey, Randi Slayton, and Rusty Rice, and her great-grandchildren; Tristen Slayton, Landon Slayton, and Emma Slayton.
